Two rounds of tariff increases and a pandemic put some of our critical suppliers out of business and raised the cost of our kit’s materials by more than 60%. Even if we gave up 100% of our profits, the kits would still be priced far beyond most folks’ reach. So, the last Puur17 kit has been manufactured and delivered.

I’m forever grateful for the passionate amateur builders who’ve helped us prove you can build a professional-grade boat in your garage. It’s been an adventure I wouldn’t trade for anything.

For those of you who arrived a bit late at the Puur site, I have one piece of advice. Build a boat. Choose a good kit with good instructions, and build it with passionate attention to detail. The experience — even before you ever get it in the water — will change your life. And, sailing something you built with your own hands never gets old, unlike a new boat you simply bought.
